Parallel modulation is just one way of changing key. Similar to relative key, parallel key is about the movement between major and minor keys.

This allows you to switch the mood of your song at any time by changing the tonic chord from major to minor (light to dark) or vice versa (dark to light), creating more interest and emotional depth in your music.

This video looks at how you can approach such a change, by using \"pivot chords\" and borrowing chords from the parallel key to \"prepare\" the change into a new key.

By combining this method with other types of modulation, you're songwriting creativity will be freer and richer, allowing you to take the listener on a journey, rather than through the same predictable cycle of chords.
