Utangarðsmenn wew a punk rock band from Iceland that was formed in 1980. They disbanded in 1982, but their legend lives on.
It was formed by lead vocalist Bubbi Morthens, guitarist / vocalist Mike Pollock and his brother guitarist Danny Pollock. The line-up was quickly completed with bass player Rúnar Erlingsson and drummer Magnús Stefánsson.
They quickly became one of the biggest names of the punk rock movement, and even went so far as to tour outside of Iceland, mostly in Sweden. They have cited that some of their biggest influences were Iggy Pop and marijuana.
After being kicked out of Utangarðsmenn Morthens formed EGO, which became very successful. After the breakup of Ego a couple of years post formation, Morthens claimed his current status of being one of the most successful Icelandic solo artist alive.
After Morthen's departure from Utangarðsmenn, the band name was changed to The Bodies, which was a short-lived band. Both Rúnar Erlingsson and Magnús Stefánsson at some time were members of Morthen's band, EGO.
This is a live recording of Utangarðsmenn in Stockholm, Sweden in 1982. Enjoy.
