In 1960, Roy Orbison and Joe Melson wrote the song Only The Lonely which they had originally tried to sell the song to Elvis Presley and then to the Everly Brothers who turned it down. In fact, when the song became a hit, Elvis bought a box full of the record for his friends. This recording is an early demo tape of the song recorded around mid 1960. This recording is a far cry from Orbison's original single version!
