Exiting Costa Rica & COVID Testing at the Airport: BYE BYE for now!

We are traveling back to the USA for a few weeks and I wanted to share what the process was like for us leaving Costa Rica.

Overall, I would rate the experience fairly easy!

If you will be getting your COVID test AT the airport, then you will need to arrive 4 hours early, just to be safe. However, if you CAN, I would recommend just getting it done where you are so you aren’t waiting around at your airline gate for a while should things be a breeze.

IF you ARE going to do the COVID testing at the airport then…

#1. Book your COVID test ahead of time via this website: https://covid.morphotr.com/
#2. Get to the airport 4 hours early
#3. Take the shuttle to the little testing site (2 mins away at SJO)
#4. Take the test
#5. Wait for the results to come to your inbox in 30 mins to 1 hour. You can go back to the airport if you want, but you cannot check-in at the airline desk yet until you have your results
#6. Once you have NEGATIVE results, go to your airline check-in counter, show them the results and other documents and VOALA!!

EASY!


AS mentioned! Here is the info to Margarita’s Guest House where you can also park your car for $20/week in a guarded parking lot. She is 10 minutes from the airport and is the sweetest most wonderful woman!
