Lonely Island (Eden Ahbez) by Sam Cooke, conducted by Bumps Blackwell
This release came in-between Cooke’s hit “For Sentimental Reasons” and “Win Your Love For Me.” It was written by pioneer hippie ‘eden ahbez’ (real name George Aberle), who is best-remembered as composer of Nat King Cole’s late-1940s “Nature Boy” hit. The commonly-found reissue version of “Lonely Island” includes a vocal overdub by Sam during the intro (not part of the original hit heard here).
