NEW ZEALANDERS IN THE VIDEO
For the featured video, an open invitation went out to ask people to send in a photo showing who they are as New Zealanders. Representing themselves.
The archive footage represents people who have helped shape this country; and the photos people sent in show us now, and hints that its up to us from now on. Its you and I. We can make it a new New Zealand if we want it to be. Its up to us to decide. We're not all the same. But we all have something to offer. What is your New Zealand?

Huge appreciation to everyone involved in making this video: The awesome librarians at our national libraries and archives. The radio / internet / tv stations that promoted the idea. Te Haeata Awatea kapa haka group. All those who stopped into the studio with editing advice. Directorial musings from Sonja de Friez, Alyx Duncan, Alan Proctor-Thomson. NZ on Air, they definitely put more of New Zealand on air\" this time. Everyone who said yes to including a photo of themselves and their loved ones. And the stories attached to these photos and these lives. It is truly humbling.
- You and Me, we are a New Zealand.

AOTEAROA (lyrics)
\"And if the past's a distant land, maybe there is no rhyme or reason, and if we salvage what we can, you and me, we are a new zealand.
And yes its true we're very young, and we have sticks and stones and bruises, can we undo what has been done, is this the way destiny chooses, you and me - we are a new zealand....Its you and I\"
