Violino Tzigano (Bixio-Chérubini) Tango chanté en Italien - Milly MONTI avec acc. par l’Orchestre L.Popesco, Pathé 1935 (France)
NOTE: Milly MONTI ( b. 1905 as Carla Mignone in Alessandria, Piedmont, Italy – d. 1980 in Nepi, Lazio, Italy) better known as Milly, was one of Italy's greatest singers. She was raised by her mother (in 1910 her father left the family). In 1924 together with her sister Mitì and brother Totò, she started performing in the magazine shows. As a teenager she started working at the Teatro in her hometown, where she made debut as a singer for the company Za Bum, whose manager was a talented actor and manager Mario Mattoli. His guidance made her record the first 78 rounds in 1929 and obtain a good success. Subsequently, she became a favorite singer for two generations of Italian fans, she was also a versatile-talented actress in the movies (an ingénue in Italian ' white telephone' comedies, a nun in Renato Castellani's \"Nella citta l'inferno'' , the drugged depraved mother in Bernardo Bertolucci's \"The Conformist\"). Milly Monti was also active on stage (Jenny in Giorgio Strehler's version of 'The Three Penny Opera', 1956). She spent twelve years of her life in New York (1936-1948) performing successfully at the Waldorf Astoria Rainbow Room as well as on Broadway.
As usually, the slideshow is composed of Italian art deco posters. In my opinion, they belong to the most beautiful posters in this period in Europe and watching them – especially, accompanied by good Italian music – is never boring.
