One Sunday afternoon five Catholic Sisters from Oregon got together to make music. Teaching was their first love, but harmony was close behind. They had invited a group of musicians, including Sammy Amato and Cookie and Jeannie Ray Routto to listen to them. After hearing the Sisters perform, Sammy, a well known musician and talent-promoter, promised help with a recording project. The Routtu Sisters enthusiastically accepted the invitation and the joined the effort. At that moment five nuns and the Routtu sisters became . . . THE NUN-PLUS.
Something Cookie and Jeannie Ray Routto - The PLUS: Cookie and Jeannie began their musical eduction in grade school with Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary and continued in their schools through high school and college. After graducation the girls studied in Germany and now hold two masters degrees in music. They are proficient in all types of danc and song, as well as masters of the piano, marimba, guitar, mandolin, string bass, drums, etc. With the loving encouragement of their Mexican mother and Finnish father, they have performed professionally throughout the Pacific Northwest and Europe as the Rey Sisters.
When Cookie and Jeannie discovered the music and lyrics of Sister Marianne Misetic, they found \"a real and contemporary approach to the celebration of life\". It was indeed a treat for the girls to direct their musical activities from lounge to that of the convent!
