The last time I uploaded a Word of God album, an online food fight resulted, saying I didn't know what I was talking about concerning the worship of the Word of God. So let me set the record straight.
First, I attended for about a year the Community of God's Delight in Dallas, TX. Bobbie Cavnar, the father of this album's music coordinator (Jim Cavnar) was the leader of the community. So it's fair to say that the two worshipped in a very similar manner, and I got to experience that.
Second, the worship style was very spiritual. The problem with the music was that it was flat and unadventurous, heavy on acoustic guitar and nearly absent on percussion. Other Catholic Charismatic groups (like Emmanuel) were doing more musically interesting things, which can be found elsewhere on this YouTube channel.
Having said that...New Life was the Word of God community's first album. As is the case with other Christian groups of the time (Achor comes to mind) the earlier albums were less sophisticated than the later ones, but the spirituality of the worship comes across better.
The songs are an interesting mix of early (and I mean early) post-Vatican II classics (such as Look Beyond, I Am the Bread of Life and Psalm 150) and some Word of God originals.
