For me, all the beats I try to make are all about moods.
Around this time, I was revisiting an older, underrated style that really showed me how looping & beat making works effectively: pause tape style. There's a lot of influenced styles on this tape (Madlib, DOOM, samiyam, Ras G, Roc marci or whatever you hear really). I came up on cats like these listed above and this was my first mostly Loops tape.
Although these beats are mostly loops, vibes and ideas; that's instrumental hip-hop to me.
A combination of ideas thru vibes and loops that express mood some how.

This album was produced using Ableton for some joints (you can tell), and 2 of my favorite Roland Samplers, the SP404sx & the MS-1.
If y'all haven't ever messed with an MS-1, y'all sleepin. That thing was the predecessor to the sp-202, a sampler i used a lot of on \"Tree Lighter Alpha\".
