The \"Tennessee Tooters\" were a studio band that was organized strictly for the purpose of recording by the Vocalion label in late December 1924. For their follow-up session one month later the group was essentially Miff Mole's \"Original Memphis Five\" with the addition of Red Nichols' trumpet and Benny Krueger's alto saxophone. This group would only exist for a brief period of twenty-one months, (December 1924 - September 1926) however during that time there were a multitude of musical and stylistic innovations taking place in New York and \"The Tooters\" managed to capture it all.
