Memory Collector - Complex Conversations (full album #3)

Playing Next: Demoniac - The Fire and The Wind (1999) Full Album
Random Page  /  Random Album

I've had a few of these tracks just sitting around, and I was beginning to get the feeling that I might lose the flow if I spent any longer working on this album. I wasn't too worried about perfecting each song. As you know, these \"albums\" are more for the purposes of recording my own ideas for use in future musical endeavors. I mainly just wanted to finish this one up and get it off my mind for the time being so that I can focus on other things without feeling like I left something unfinished. I knew that trying to take on another project like my previous album right away might prove discouraging, so this one's kind of a laid back CD for me.

This album features a mix of electronic and acoustic tracks. Some tracks are both acoustic and electronic, while others are solely acoustic. The first track on the album was the last track that I ever created using the Korg Kaossilator Pro. I had a wide range if influences for this album, but mainly I had Radiohead, Modest Mouse, and other acoustic artists like Antoine DuFour and Sungha Jung in mind.

Each of the songs on this album is representative of an experience I've had where I just felt that I could not adequately express my emotions in words, and therefore, may have fallen short of expectations in some respects. It was the times that required complex conversations that I simply could not handle in the moment. I often have difficulty saying what I feel, and there are many instances where I wish I could travel back in time and fix it all, say what I really wanted to say, what I needed to say. But you can't go back. All you can do is make new chances to do the right thing. I'm not going to dwell on these \"mistakes\", these setbacks. Instead, I will trap them within the sounds and let them be a reminder that I can do better. There is always a tomorrow, and even though your past does shape your future in a way, it does not rule it.

The album begins with kind of a hazy feel, reminiscent of the days when everything seemed very dream-like. It also ends on kind of the same note. To me, this symbolizes my obsession with dreaming and related topics. I feel that my dreams guide me to where I need to go in life, and I follow them semi-religiously. I've had so many strange coincidences happen, instances in which I've dreamt about something very vivid, and then seen it in my waking life within days of having the dream. I thought it was all coincidence at first, but ever since it started it has never stopped. It makes me wonder if the dream world is actually real, and \"reality\" is the dream. Oftentimes, the dreams feel more real than reality. These are the nights where I wake up and I'm not sure if I'm truly awake.

Eyes Open, Eyes Closed, and everything in between ...

The album art is an original piece I created specifically for the music
