Dusty Rankin with The Singing Kettles - I Think Of You

Playing Next: Jim Capaldi – Old Photographs (1981)
Random Page  /  Random Song

If there was ever a contest to find the smoooooooothest voice in Aussie country music, it would be a toss up between Jimmy Little and Dusty Rankin.

After recording for EMI since 1948, Dusty went into retirement in 1961 in order to spend more time with his family.
In 1965, Eric Scott of Hadley Records convinced Dusty to come out of retirement and travel to Launceston to record some fresh material.
These were the early days of Hadley, long before Eric made the move to Tamworth.
Dusty recorded 12 songs, which were progressively released on three 4 track EPs...
...this track is from the third of those EPs, \"Smooth 'n' Country\", HEP516.

Musicians backing Dusty on the session included all three of the Singing Kettles, Bill, Ross & Max.
I've scanned the rear cover of the EP, which lists all backing musicians.
The track was written by Trevor Day.

NOTE: There was a bit of damage on this track, but I managed to clean up most of it...however, there is a small 'skip', which I wasn't able to remove.
My apologies for that, but, I consider it to still be very worthwhile.
