Peru (or PERU ) was a Dutch band that made instrumental electronic music . The band was founded in 1979 by Peter Kommers and Ruud van Es. The name PERU is due to the initial letters of Pe ter and Ru ud. Rob Papen came relatively quickly and was already on the B side of Macchu Picchu to hear. Jos van den Dungen joined the band in 1988. The first album he participated in was Forlian . Kommers, van Es and Papen also appeared under the name Nova with electronic music from 1982 to 1983. With Aurora , Nova landed a number one hit in the Netherlands in 1982. After this success, they concentrated only on Peru. In 1988 Peru also celebrated a great success with Africa .
At the moment van Es and Papen no longer actively make music, but produce only, but nothing more under the name Peru or Nova.
Songs from the album Continents are used in the television series Bassie en Adriaan and Het geheim van de schatkaart .
