so I made this one, it's one of my favorites from them, so poignantly sad, a real tear-jerker
The guys were drafted in 1961,and enlisted into the Marines, they spent six months, boot camp, at Camp Pendleton in San Diego,California. Don Everly got married in his Dress Blues right after he graduated boot camp in the Base Chapel....
they did 2 years of service
The song was released in 1961 it reached #8 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
Fresh out of boot camp, on February 18th 1962, they appeared in their Marine uniforms on the Ed Sullivan show.
