Ginger Callahan Acetate / Mother Plate Record - "Boy Across the Aisle" -45RPM - 1964

Playing Next: Wild World - Cat Stevens
Random Page  /  Random Song

I like to buy obscure stuff, especially the 'unknown'. I recently was sorting through a large stack of 78's at a record convention, and found two metal acetate records with homemade handwritten labels on them. I always buy acetates assuming they are from home-record cutting machines, and I get a kick out of hearing what people recorded at home decades earlier.

But these were different for some reason. They were cut very clean, and were in very shiny high quality condition.

The first thing I noticed upon getting them home is that they are cut at 45RPM, and even though the disc is 10\", its cut from the 7\" '45' area, and its cut microgroove to use the LP needle of my record players.

Then I startyed playing them and the songs and the quality of the recording are very high end! Better than any acetate Ive ever played.

I have no idea who this is. The label only said the name of the song, the time of the song, the speed it was recorded, and 'bennett'. All four sides have this same formula of information.

Thanks to Phunkyjunction, this has been identified as Ginger Callahan.
