Pattie Brooks is a Kansas-born singer who signed with Casablanca Records, home of such prominent artists as Donna Summer, Kiss, Village People, and Parliament. Coming fresh off singing backing vocals on Donna Summer's I Remember Yesterday album (and the #1 hit I Feel Love), Pattie was paired with British-French-Moroccan producer Simon Soussan for her debut album, Love Shook, which was released on October 3, 1977. The lead single was a cover of Bunny Sigler's 1966 soul single, Girl, Don't Make Me Wait. Although it failed to generate any crossover hits on the pop charts, the album peaked at #2 on the Billboard Disco Charts.
