It was an absolute joy to work on this cover with all these wonderful people. Collaborations are often some of the most rewarding videos I ever have the opportunity to work on, and this was no exception! Jules, Sab, and Adrianas parts were all filmed out in San Diego, CA during a visit Sab and I took down there! We had a lot of fun filming and doing silly things together (as Im sure you saw in the video).
Ive wanted to arrange Pollyanna for a while, but never had a perfect idea to represent the super-happy sentiments that this song has. While learning a few pop piano pieces to play at a graduation ceremony, I remembered September by Earth, Wind and Fire, and realized that would make a fantastic influence on this arrangement. If youre at all familiar with September, you can probably hear a lot of similar mix elements and arrangement ideas in this particular video. And hey, what do you know, this video is coming out in September! Fun!
Its my hope that this arrangement makes you feel happy and childlike in the same way that the Mother series does for me and so many others :)
