Coleman Hawkins is one of the most famous Jazz musicians of all time. Mostly because of his longevity and the longevity and how spread out he recorded. Starting out in the early 20s with Fletcher Henderson, while at that time playing with Louis Armstrong. He would also go onto play with other legends like Miles Davis, Dizzie Gillepsie, and Max Roach. But that doesn't count for all the Orchestra's and bands he was part of. That includes Benny Carter's, Bessie Smith's, Jimmy Rushing's, Earl Randolph's, The Dixie Stompers, Red McKenzie's, and many others. That along with having probably 20 of his Own bands.

One of his many bands was this one here, The Coleman Hawkins Quartet. This one would only record for a very short time. Recording under 10 records throughout it's existence. Starting in 1944 on a small label NY label named Keynote. Recording only two records on there. In 1945 they would pick up on another small NY label named Joe Davis. After recording a few records there, they would move to the Brand new, fledgling Mercury label. They would make one more record on there. One of Hawkin's songs with another group would be re-released overseas on Odeon. By 1946, the band would have broken up. A few albums from the later 50s and the early 60s would assemble a bunch of his songs, and label it as \"Coleman Hawkins Quarter\" as these things usually do.

Under this band, there was no hits.

The A Side is called On The \"Bean\" which you can listen to here: https://youtu.be/ZbxGsYYa6b8
