Mark bought this 78 rpm record, along with a box full of 78's at a garage sale. It was the only record in the box that appeared to have been taken care of special. It's in great shape and was kept in a protective record sleeve.
This record peaks our interest for a couple reasons,
1. Mark likes it.
2. We haven't found another like it yet. We think it may be because there is a mistake in the lyrics, So they pulled this record from the shelves.
The lyrics say the \"witching hour is 12PM\" .....
Okay I admit it..... I didn't notice at first either but COME ON ... The song IS called Mr. Midnight ... 12 PM??? that's noon!! Wow nobody noticed this? I mean it went all the way to pressing and lasted til today!!
So Mark and I are talking about it and realize a couple of things...
1. Is this song a testament to who's paying attention ? LOL
Think about all the people that are involved in recording a song professionally.
The musicians, writers, tech's. etc.
Then there's the other people such as management, Music executives, promotion people and such. RADIO??? FANS???
Yet through all these hands slipped a funny little mistake....
the Witching hour and Midnight are at 12 AM not 12 PM!!!
We laugh every time we hear poor Johnnie sing those lyrics because he is really singing his heart out.
I wish I knew the real story behind this....
If anyone knows about this...please clue us in.
2. Did this song get pulled and we have a rare record? Would love to know.
