Caught somewhere between the genres of Ambient and Post-rock, The Echelon Effect still stays true to the original founding idea, that there are no rules to follow. It would be easy to describe the music as epic or delicate. After a few listens the need for a deeper description becomes apparent. Calming, etherial and grand have all been used in reviews, but there is still a deeper emotion that lies within the many layers of this pretty (and sometimes complex) instrumental music. Sometimes a simple melody is built upon again and again, and where The Echelon Effect shines, is that it crafts shimmering landscapes, moods and feelings.
