No titles. (Titles should read: \"Over forty years ago a catchy tune spread throughout the land - and many other lands - The best-known singer of it was CHARLES COBURN - Now a veteran of 82 years.\")

Pathe Studio, London.

Veteran entertainer Charles Coburn sings 'The Man Who Broke The Bank At Monte Carlo' in the studio. He wears a rather old-fashioned suit and top hat and carries a cane. When he reaches the chorus we hear some people singing along on the second go, as if in a music hall.

Halfway through the song he stops and tells us he is going to sing the next chorus in French and he wants us to do the same on our turn. When it comes to our turn there is a feeble try by the 'audience' and Charles groans, looks pained and slaps his head. He says that's the wickedest French he's ever heard in all his life. He says we'll have one more go \"and don't let this be a bald-headed chorus!\". We all have one last singalong with the chorus in English.

Note: this version is quite scratched and a bit jumpy - it was taken from a Pathetone Parade compilation.
