In August 1935, the 8\" Eclipse label was replaced by the 9\" Crown label. The first Crown record to be issued, was In A Little Gypsy Tea Room by Mrs Jack Hylton & Her Band. Crown ran until 1937, when Decca bought out the recording side of Crystalate, as Crystalate Ltd continued to produce non-recording products. The company continued on in the electronic components industry at least into the early 1990s as Crystalate Holdings, which manufactured resistors in the UK. A British company, TT Group, bought Crystalate Ltd in August 1990. TT Group became TT Electronics in 2000.
So ends my study of The Crystalate Company. Decca kept the REX label as a subsidiary and scrapped the Crown label, so I thought I'd let the first artist to record on Crown, take the final bow. This recording is also rather poignant. Not only is it Mrs Jack Hylton's final recording for Crown and Crystalate, but her swan song, as shortly after this she had to retire owing to ill health. The final title, I'll Keep On Dreaming Of You, is quite prophetic alone.
Both sides were recorded on 23rd September, 1936. Side one features a vocal by Jimmy Miller, and side two features a vocal by John Bristol & Chorus.
