Annette Hanshaw - 1928 - Smiles w/Robison's Deep River Orch
Annette Hanshaw, accompanied by Willard Robison and His Deep River Orchestra sings Smiles. The music was recorded in New York City March 1928 and released on the Pathe Actuelle label 36796 and Perfect label 14977. Several of the record labels on this vid show the vocalist as Patsy Young and Gay Ellis. Those were both names under which Annette recorded. It was Annette's unique job at Columbia/Pathe to act as studio big band girl singer for the bands who did not employ one.Yes, once again, I know I misspelled Robison in the vid as Robinson. Its just not worth changing.
