According to the Lancaster Pennsylvania โ€˜New Era Newspaperโ€™ from 1943, Jack Regennas Lacey was born in Lancaster Pa on June 26, 1909 to Miles J. and Gertrude R. Lacey. His father, a local trombonist and his mother, a local soprano, encouraged Jack to begin playing trombone at age 14. Jack played in the Boyโ€™s High School Band. Jack rose quickly and began playing with local orchestras while he was still in school.

Among the bands with whom he played were Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Richard Himber, Andre Kostelanetz (played 9 years as 1st trombone), Al Roth and Raymond Page and in the NBC Symphony under Toscanini. In 1942 Jack was inducted into the Army Air Corps at age 34 and served in the Third Army Air Force Band at Boca Raton Field in Florida.

Jack Lacey died on May 25, 1965 from complications of diabetes at age 55.
